Metamorphoses (Howard)

in English blank verse

by Ovid

Translated by J. J. Howard (1807)

Ovid's fifteen books of transformations in the English blank verse of J. J. Howard, a Georgian version printed privately in 1807, with its period elisions intact and the poet's bolder passages deliberately chastened for general readers.
