The Queen's Wake
A Legendary Poem
Hogg's legendary poem of a minstrel contest at Holyrood, where the bards of Scotland sing before Mary, Queen of Scots, in the first weeks after her return from France. Twelve of the seventeen songs are given, among them Kilmeny and The Witch of Fife, together with the framing narrative divided into the Introduction, the three Nights, and the interludes between the songs.
