James Hogg
James Hogg (1770–1835) is one of the Scottish song-writers whose lives Charles Rogers sketched in The Modern Scottish Minstrel (six volumes, Edinburgh: Adam & Charles Black, 1855–57).
This archive holds songs from volume 2 of Rogers's anthology, together with the shorter poems, ballads, songs and parodies of The Poetical Works of the Ettrick Shepherd (Blackie, Glasgow, 1838–40, five volumes). The long poems are in the Works section. Dates are those given in Rogers's memoir.
