Quatrain LXXXVII

by Abu al-Ala al-Ma'arri 973–1057

Translated by Henry Baerlein (1909) · From The Diwan of Abu'l-Ala (1909)

Religion

The little voice that leads you to the land
Of virtue; but, on hearing the command
To lead a giant army, will rejoice.
