Love
Book XVI, 174: On the Same
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. V, 1918)
Paris, seeing Cytherea in arms, said, “Cypris, wouldst thou that we went to the judgment so?” But she, with a gentle smile, answered, “Why should I lift up a shield in combat? If I conquer when naked, how will it be when I arm myself?”
