Love
Book V, 202
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. I, 1916)
Piango dedicated on the portals of the equestrian god her purple whip and her polished reins, after winning as a jockey her race with Philaenis, her practised rival, when the horses of the evening had just begun to neigh. Dear Cypris, give her unquestioned glory for her victory, stablishing for her this favour not to be forgotten.
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
