Love
Book V, 308
Translated by W. R. Paton (1916–18) · From The Greek Anthology (Loeb, vol. I, 1916)
O you pretty creature, wait for me. What is your name? Where can I see you? I will give what you choose. You don’t even speak. Where do you live? I will send someone with you. Do you possibly belong to anyone? Well, you stuck-up thing, goodbye. You won’t even say “goodbye.” But again and again I willaccost you. I know how to soften even more hard-hearted beauties ; and for the present, ‘‘ goodbye, madam !”’
This translation is printed as prose in its source edition.
