Nature

At Nan-king Ferry

by Chang Hu 9th century AD

Translated by Witter Bynner and Kiang Kang-hu (1929) · From The Jade Mountain (1929)

Nature

This one-story inn at Nan-king ferry
Is a miserable lodging-place for the night —
But across the dead moon’s ebbing tide,
Lights from Kua-chou beckon on the river.
