The Mind

Doom is the House Without the Door

by Emily Dickinson 1830–1886

From Further Poems of Emily Dickinson (1929)

The Mind

Doom is the House Without the Door—
'T is entered from the sun,
And then the ladder's thrown away
Because escape is done.

'T is varied by the dream
Of what they do outside,
When squirrels play and berries die—
And hundreds bow to God.
