The Mind

We miss a kinsman more

by Emily Dickinson 1830–1886

From Further Poems of Emily Dickinson (1929)

The Mind

We miss a kinsman more
When warranted to see
Than when withheld by oceans
From possibility.

A furlong than a league
Inflicts a pricklier pain—
Till we, who smiled at Pyrenees,
Of parishes complain!
