Against Promoters

by Sir John Harington 1560–1612

From The Most Elegant and Witty Epigrams (1618), Book 1

Social Commentaries

BAse spies, disturbers of the publike rest,
With forged wrongs, the true mans right that wrest:
acke hence exil'd to desart lands, and waste.
And drinke the cup that you made others taste.
But yet the Prince to you doth bounty show,
That doth your very liues on you bestow.
