On the State of the Theatres
From Poems; Ludicrous, Satirical, and Moral (1768)
Arts & Sciences
One proud Goliah Gath could boast,
And Philistines of yore;
But Covent-Garden's threatening host
Boast one Goliah more.
Yet fear not you of Drury-Lane,
By little champion led;
Their two Goliahs roar in vain
While David's at your head.
