History & Politics

Fallen so low, so low!
Wherefore not homeward go?
And we, — how could we for our chief refuse
Exposure to the nightly dews?

Fallen so low, so low!
Wherefore not homeward go?
And did we not our chief himself require,
How lived we here in mud and mire?
