Time & Brevity

While Roses Fall

by Wang Wei AD 699–759

Translated by L. Cranmer-Byng (1916) · From A Feast of Lanterns (1916)

Time & Brevity

Dawn after dawn the last doth nearer bring.
Ah! what avails the shy return of spring?
Then fill the wine-cup of to-day and let
Night and the roses fall, while we forget.
