Nature

In a Retreat Among Bamboos

by Wang Wei AD 699–759

Translated by Witter Bynner and Kiang Kang-hu (1929) · From The Jade Mountain (1929)

Nature

Leaning alone in the close bamboos,
I am playing my lute and humming a song
Too softly for anyone to hear —
Except my comrade, the bright moon.
