Genesis 4:7: Though every sinful act increase

by Charles Wesley 1707–1788

From Short Hymns on Select Passages of the Holy Scriptures (1762) · Osborn ed., vol. 9 (1870)

Religion

Though every sinful act increase
Our strong propensity to sin.
Into our heart it need not press.
We need not let the evil in:
Though sin lie knocking at the door.
Admittance we may still refuse.
For Jesus doth to all restore
The power or life or death to choose.
