Chang Chi

8th–9th century AD

Chang Chi is dated by Giles to the 8th and 9th centuries AD. His poem here is a wife’s answer to an admirer, a favourite theme of the T’ang quatrain.

The poems here are Herbert A. Giles’s versions in Chinese Poetry in English Verse (1898), given with the poet’s name as spelled in that book.

  1. The Chaste Wife's Reply
  2. Thinking of a Friend Lost in the Tibetan War
