Christodorus of Coptus

fl. c. AD 500

Christodorus of Coptus, in Egypt, was an epic poet of the reign of Anastasius I, around AD 500. Paton calls him Christodorus of Thebes in Egypt. Only one of his poems survives complete, thanks to its place in the Greek Anthology.

That poem is the description of the bronze statues in the public gymnasium called Zeuxippos at Byzantium, printed as the whole of Book II and destroyed with the building in the fire of 532.
