Caesares: Quatrains XXI. — Severus Pertinax
Translated by Hugh G. Evelyn-White (1919–21) · From Book XIV. — Ausonius on the Twelve Caesars
Unwearying, Severus marches from chill Ister to wrest the sovereignty from Didius the parricide. Punic by birth was he, yet such as to prove by manliness that place is no bar when native power is strong.
