Love

Lyrical Intermezzo, 32

by Heinrich Heine 1797–1856

Translated by Edgar Alfred Bowring (1908) · From Book of Songs: Lyrical Intermezzo

Love

The lovely eyes of violet blue,
The beauteous cheeks of rosy hue,
The hands so like white lilies too,--
All these still sweetly blossom and bloom,
The heart alone is cold as the tomb.
