Nature

It's Raining

by Sándor Petőfi 1823–1849

Translated by William N. Loew (1912) · From Selected Lyrics

Nature

It's raining, raining, raining!

A kiss-shower it is,
And my lips enjoy it,

Each loving kiss a bliss.

The torrent brings a vivid
And shooting flash of light,

The lightning shoots, the rays
Of you'r two eyes so bright.

I hear the thunder rolling,
Rolls like a heavy gun;

Good-bye, my darling girl;
Thv mother comes — I run!
