Simonides of Ceos
Simonides of Ceos (c. 556 – 468 BC) was one of the great lyric poets of Greece and the most famous composer of epitaphs and dedicatory epigrams, among them the lines on the Greek dead of the Persian Wars. Many of the epigrams that circulated under his name are not his.
The epigrams here are those that Paton's first volume ascribes to him, a few of them with doubt.
