Agathias Scholasticus
Agathias Scholasticus, born at Myrina in Asia Minor about 530, practised as a lawyer at Constantinople and wrote a history of Justinian's wars. He gathered the poems of his generation in the Cycle, a collection of new epigrams, around 567.
The epigrams here include the two proems of the Cycle (Book IV, 3 and 4) and the many love poems that Paton ascribes to him in Book V and dedications in Book VI.
